About the Role
The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining manufacturing equipment, including repairing or replacing failed components and performing preventive maintenance. This role focuses on developing short- and long-term repairs to improve quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as greasing, oiling, grinding, drilling, disassembling, and reassembling simple and complex machine parts.
- Follow maintenance procedures and maintain proper documentation, drawings, and files.
- Demonstrate knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic controls, materials, and components.
- Operate, set, and adjust machinery using hand-held tools, both manual and powered, precision and non-precision.
- Support efforts to meet line product Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), scrap goals, and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) targets.
- Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic machine issues, diagnose malfunctions per manufacturer guidelines, and perform corrective and preventive maintenance.
- Interpret schematic, pneumatic, and wiring diagrams.
- Collaborate with engineers and managers for line moves, installations, and improvement activities.
- Work cooperatively with engineering, operations, logistics, quality, and environmental health and safety departments.
- Mentor and train operations personnel in proper machine maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
- Use and understand general-purpose measuring instruments.
- Comply with all environmental, health, and safety system requirements and assist in designing improvements to the work environment.
- Perform daily activities safely and efficiently using prior knowledge, manufacturer guidelines, and on-the-job training.
- Reduce downtime by working efficiently and performing root cause analysis countermeasures.
- Monitor the safety, quality, and productivity of production machinery and equipment.
- Apply knowledge of industrial electricity, including single-phase and three-phase power, motors, protective devices, and photo sensors.
- Complete work order documentation for work history and parts inventory tracking.
- Submit and assist with the creation and resolution of Continuous Improvements.
Work Environment
Safety is the highest priority, with strict adherence to procedures such as Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including electrostatic discharge composite toe shoes and smocks. The role operates in a climate-controlled facility with exposure to robots, pedestrians, and noise. Physical tasks include lifting and operating machinery, with comprehensive training provided.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of prior maintenance or production experience at AUMOVIO.
- Excellent mechanical ability, including understanding of mechanics and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics in equipment manuals.
- 1+ years of experience working with machines (pulleys, levers, etc.), pneumatics, hydraulics, gears, reducers, bearings, lubrication theory, drive components (sheaves, sprockets, chain belts, take-ups), and equipment alignment.
- 1+ years of experience with preventive maintenance (PM) procedures, including performing PMs and logging completion.
- Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, email) and familiarity with database-related software.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (AUMOVIO will not sponsor employment visas for this role).
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate of Applied Science in Electronics or other technical degree, or equivalent military training.
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
- Self-starter able to work independently or in a team.
- Familiarity with electronics such as photo sensors, PLCs, remote I/Os, servo drives, and variable frequency drives.
- Intermediate knowledge of AC/DC theory, relays, switches, solenoids, fuses, breakers, power generation and distribution (including 48V 3-phase), electrical safety, digital multimeter operation, and motor theory and protection.
- Intermediate knowledge of production facility systems, including conveyors, robotic equipment, Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), Auto Guided Vehicles (AGVs), and PLC programming.
- Strong electronics background, including the ability to read schematics and use test equipment.
- Programming familiarity and use of various software packages.
- Willingness to learn and develop in the maintenance field.
- Efficient and effective communication skills with peers and staff.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
- Lift up to 40 pounds unassisted.
- Stand for periods up to 10+ hours.
- Push, pull (racks), reach, twist, turn, stoop, walk, and stand for 10+ hours.
- Climb ladders.
- Bend at the waist and perform repetitive foot and hand actions.
Schedule
B Shift: 4 days on, 4 days off, rotating schedule from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
Pay
The expected pay range for this role is $22.16 - $26.08 per hour, depending on experience.
