Maintenance Technician Floater, Handyman
Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957 and is one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are seeking a qualified individual with industry experience to join our team.
About the role
Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician Floater will perform general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance while floating to different locations. All tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and grounds maintenance.
- Provide excellent customer service to interact with property managers, vendors, customers, etc.
- Drive to different locations to provide coverage.
- Lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 lbs. up to 75 lbs., walk, bend, stretch during shift.
- Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are working in order and fixed as necessary.
- Create and maintain work orders and purchase orders.
- Perform any additional maintenance-related duties as required by HBM supervisor or property management.
- Perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, and meet physical demands including reaching overhead, grasping objects, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting, climbing, stretching, walking up/down stairways, climbing ladders, and standing throughout the shift.
Requirements
- Must pass HBM prescreen check.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required.
- Basic hand tools required.
- General preventative maintenance experience in commercial plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall.
- Troubleshooting abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Good public relations skills, communication, and customer service orientation.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and improve.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including after hours, weekends, and holidays for emergencies.

Pay
Hourly rate: $25.00 - $26.00
Schedule
Varies: Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM (subject to emergencies: after hours, weekends, and holidays).
