About the role

This position involves repairing and maintaining various types of machinery and mechanical equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a preventive maintenance program.
  • Observes mechanical components during operation to identify equipment failures.
  • Documents all repairs on equipment.
  • Dismantles devices to access and remove defective parts.
  • Adjusts and replaces functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Interprets specifications and blueprints.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase equipment life.
  • May work in other areas of the plant based on production needs.
  • May be required to work off shifts as needed.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Qualifications

  • Physical demands include standing, walking, reaching, climbing, talking, hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, and loud noise.
