Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Industrial Multi Craft Maintenance Technician will handle, install, test, and operate all types of mechanical and electrical equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, power transmissions, motors, motor controls, MCCs, electrical systems, HVAC, and PLCs. The role focuses on ensuring optimal equipment performance and facility reliability, minimizing downtime in a continuous manufacturing environment, and maintaining safe operation of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and routine maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
• Support continuous improvement by participating in Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and leading improvement initiatives.
• Conduct GEMBA walks to discuss line issues with operators and promote early detection of problems.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors, chillers, boilers, and control devices.
• Install, align, and adjust new equipment to operational standards; fabricate or modify parts as needed using welding, machining, or other techniques.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to diagnose faults and perform repairs.
• Work with automation systems, sensors, and controllers to optimize production processes.
• Conduct daily inspections and process flow checks to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and collaborate with other departments to improve operational efficiency.
• Assist with plant and facility upkeep, including cleanup and minor structural repairs.
• Meet committed downtime and equipment turnover dates during creel overs.
• Document machine and maintenance knowledge in SOPs or work instructions in SAP.
• Maintain maintenance records, logs, and reports as required.
• Request, retrieve, and maintain storeroom spare parts; assist with min/max determinations and return unused parts to stock.
• Move parts with a forklift and use rigging knowledge to safely handle suspended loads.
• Complete work orders, improve work procedures, update time estimates, and adjust PM/PdM frequencies.
• Support capital projects, equipment, and process changes.
• Lead and perform maintenance activities during creel overs and annual shutdowns.
• Support line startups after creel overs and annual outages.
• Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) responsibilities, including compliance with company policies and participation in exposure-based safety processes.
• Complete all required HS&E training by due dates and perform jobs in a safe manner.
• Conduct risk assessments and maintain a proactive approach to hazard avoidance.
• Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) properly and report hazards, near misses, and equipment safety concerns promptly.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or associate degrees preferred.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• PLC awareness with the ability to read alarms, identify I/O, and follow cause-and-effect troubleshooting; programming is a plus.
• Competence with tools across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and basic fabrication.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to respond to unexpected equipment issues.
• Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and troubleshoot field equipment based on drawings and symptoms.
• Experience troubleshooting equipment such as motors, pumps, gearboxes, fans, compressors, and electrical systems.
• Experience replacing equipment such as bearings, seals, couplings, motors, pumps, and understanding lubrication fundamentals.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and work orders.
• Planning and scheduling knowledge to execute planned work and record unplanned work.
• Computer skills to review and complete work orders in SAP.
• Maintenance spare part knowledge to locate and retrieve parts from stores.
• Advanced electrical knowledge; knowledge of instrumentation and calibration is a plus.
• Ability to lift, bend, climb, kneel, and work in confined spaces; capable of performing moderate to heavy manual labor.
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
• Must be fit to use a mask respirator (no beard, mustache is acceptable).

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $00.00 per hour. Actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate and may include bonus and/or other incentives.

Schedule

Industrial or manufacturing setting; weekends and overtime may be required.
