Maintenance Technician

About the role

To provide support to the Liquid Manufacturing Technology Center to correct, change, repair, design, and maintain site equipment and facilities. These responsibilities must be done with attention given to safety, production schedules, and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily checks, maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair all distribution and facilities equipment.
• Maintain plant equipment PM program.
• Enter, track, and perform analysis of machine data for execution of corrective actions for improvement.
• Adhere to developed SOPs/checklists for PMs, CMs, TPMs for best practices of maintaining facilities equipment.
• Respond to trouble calls.
• Enter all machine information into the designated work order system.
• Use schematics and testing equipment to systematically diagnose problems.
• Use ladder logic and motor control circuits to troubleshoot and repair plant equipment.
• Assist plant leadership to ensure that PMs/CMs/TPMs are executed efficiently, effectively, and on schedule by auditing and optimizing the process.
• Participate and contribute to facility programs such as SEAL, Housekeeping, Safety Committee, etc.
• Act as first responder in facility emergencies.
• Comply with all safety standards and regulations and perform all duties in a safe manner.

Requirements

• High School Degree or equivalent.
• Vocational/Technical School certificate (Industrial Maintenance, Industrial Electricity) plus 2+ years’ experience in a similar industrial environment, including electrical and machine repair, installation, and troubleshooting is preferred.
• Broad depth of experience and knowledge of production machinery and equipment.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems, facility, and material handling equipment.
• Demonstrated experience in repair/troubleshooting of equipment such as mixing vessels, wrappers, material handling equipment, etc.
• Ability to read mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics, prints, and service manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Understanding of PLC programming basics.
• Ability to make machine parts on lathe and milling machine.
• Fabrication and welding skills.
• Excellent people and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Professional demeanor when communicating by email, radio, telephone, meetings, and in person.
• Must freely share knowledge and skills with other personnel.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot, and problem solve.
• Team player; flexible in accepting work assignments.
• Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed; other maintenance and/or facilities projects assigned.

Schedule

1st shift, Monday – Thursday, 5:00am to 3:30pm; overtime and weekends as needed.

Essential Physical Requirements

• Considerable physical effort lifting and moving material or objects that are average weight continuously and heavy weight material or objects frequently, up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk long distances and stand up for 10-12 hours.
• Able to bend, stretch, and reach low and high places frequently and work in awkward positions.
• Climb stairs and step ladders (anywhere from 2 steps up to 9 ft).
• Operate forklifts, floor scrubbers, and personnel lifts.
• Lift light weight objects or material overhead occasionally.
• Pass a depth perception eye exam and medical questionnaire.
• Ability to work in high places of 35-40 ft. and look up to high places by bending neck.
