Maintenance Technician

About the Role

Performs duties in various highly skilled trade areas, including interior and exterior building maintenance, groundskeeping, and specialized work in plumbing, heating, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

• Follows all required Safety Protocols, including the proper use of PPE.
• Performs interior and exterior building maintenance and groundkeeping assignments according to work orders.
• Performs necessary skilled work in one or more areas of plumbing, heating, carpentry, and other trade areas as needed.
• Performs carpentry work in repairing or replacing doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing, painting, and any other work pertaining to wood structures.
• Performs plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning work in repairing or replacing furnaces, ductwork, air conditioners, piping, instrument controls, wash basins, toilet facilities, and other related systems.
• Performs electrical work in repairing and replacing fluorescent fixtures, control switches, disconnecting wiring, and other electrical facilities.
• Performs minor construction such as building storage bins, stockroom shelves, counters, and workbenches.
• Uses precision hand tools and power tools.
• May drive trucks and other vehicles, including Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV).
• Attends required staff training sessions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent.
• Three years’ experience in electrical, heating, refrigeration, mechanical, and carpentry work.
• Preferred: Certificate of completion from a building trades training program or apprenticeship program.
• Extensive experience in the building trades.
• Must possess a valid State driver’s license; ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license if required.
• Ability to operate power and hand tools.
• Sound working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, building maintenance, and construction fields.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently: Sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, driving.
• Occasionally: Standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, flexibility.
• Seldom: Climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, kneeling, pushing/pulling, running.

Environmental Demands

• Ability to operate office equipment.
• Occasionally works alone; 85% of time spent working and interacting with team and other departments.
• Ability to read and write at a high school level.

Schedule: 26.25 hours per week.
