About the Role
Performs duties in various highly skilled trade areas, including interior and exterior building maintenance, groundskeeping, and specialized work in plumbing, heating, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
- Follows all required Safety Protocols, including the proper use of PPE.
- Performs interior and exterior building maintenance and groundkeeping assignments according to work orders.
- Performs necessary skilled work in one or more areas of plumbing, heating, carpentry, and other trade areas as needed.
- Performs carpentry work in repairing or replacing doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing, painting, and any other work pertaining to wood structures.
- Performs plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning work in repairing or replacing furnaces, ductwork, air conditioners, piping, instrument controls, wash basins, toilet facilities, and other related systems.
- Performs electrical work in repairing and replacing fluorescent fixtures, control switches, disconnecting wiring, and other electrical facilities.
- Performs minor construction such as building storage bins, stockroom shelves, counters, and workbenches.
- Uses precision hand tools and power tools.
- May drive trucks and other vehicles, including Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV).
- Attends required staff training sessions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent.
- Three years’ experience in electrical, heating, refrigeration, mechanical, and carpentry work.
- Preferred: Certificate of completion from a building trades training program or apprenticeship program.
- Extensive experience in the building trades.
- Must possess a valid State driver’s license; ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license if required.
- Ability to operate power and hand tools.
- Sound working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, building maintenance, and construction fields.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently: Sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, driving.
- Occasionally: Standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, flexibility.
- Seldom: Climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, kneeling, pushing/pulling, running.
Environmental Demands
- Ability to operate office equipment.
- Occasionally works alone; 85% of time spent working and interacting with team and other departments.
- Ability to read and write at a high school level.
Schedule: 26.25 hours per week.
