Maintenance Technician

About the role

This Maintenance Technician role is based in Clackamas, OR and supports the IFF Health & Biosciences team. The position maintains all company encapsulation and packaging equipment, ensuring optimal working order through installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of production and facility systems.

Schedule

  • Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM, Monday - Friday
  • Additional $1.00 per hour shift differential
  • May exceed 40 hours per week based on business needs
  • On-call status and/or 6-7 day work weeks may be required depending on maintenance and production needs

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and emergency repairs on plant utilities and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic systems using test instruments.
  • Assist production until the daily schedule is complete.
  • Collaborate with operators and contact vendors for parts and supplies.
  • Install new equipment and assist with machinery setup for scheduled production runs.
  • Make corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs during production, diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and test adjustments.
  • Perform prioritized and scheduled maintenance repairs.
  • Understand production systems and machinery to diagnose failures, minimize downtime, and anticipate wear through routine observation and operator feedback.
  • Maintain basic facilities and infrastructure (chillers, boilers, plumbing, electrical, HVAC) through preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs.
  • Adhere to cGMP, quality, and safety standards, including passing job-related tests and certifications (re-qualification required annually).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Preferred: High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum: Technical classes related to the job.
  • 4-5 years of mechanical experience.
  • Valid driver’s license (ability to drive and pick up parts).
  • Preferred: Forklift certification.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Experience with FDA/cGMP compliance is preferred.
  • Legal right to work in the United States.
