Pay

$25.32 - $37.98 per hour. Final compensation within this range may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.

Schedule

  • Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Days: Sunday night – Friday morning
  • Openness to work overtime as needed

About the role

As a Maintenance Technician with Avient, you are responsible for completing maintenance assignments to build, repair, and/or maintain all equipment in good operating condition as quickly and accurately as possible, while keeping associated costs to a minimum to help meet Plant goals. To be successful in this role, you should be multi-skilled and able to contribute to plant maintenance activities in a variety of craft disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation.
  • Dismantles and examines devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces defective parts.
  • Sets up and operates shop machinery such as lathe, drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder, etc.
  • Uses hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment.
  • Installs new or repairs/modifies hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
  • Completes projects with minimal guidance, showing a proactive attitude to minimizing equipment downtime and lost production capability.
  • Improves reliability and uptime of all equipment.
  • Takes a proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance mentality.
  • Operates forklift and hydraulic working platform as needed.
  • Researches supplies, parts, and tools needed to complete work orders.
  • Assists in identifying and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
  • Contributes to upkeep and updating of required paperwork such as records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, PM logs, etc.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Technical School degree or equivalent experience.
  • Work experience in an industrial operations environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or procedure manuals.
  • Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, including the ability to use conversions and work with different units such as weight, volume, density, and distance.

Physical Demands

  • Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time, talking, and listening.
  • Must be able to walk and use hands.
  • Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and stairs.
  • May occasionally be required to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently communicate and understand work instructions and information in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where the noise level is loud.
  • Must be able to detect and discern safety alarms and respond accordingly.
  • Generally requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, and respiratory protection.
  • Exposure to outside weather conditions is routine.
  • May be exposed to working in extreme heat and humidity.
  • May also be exposed on occasion to dust or fumes.
