Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in warehouse or production areas (hairnets/beard nets, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard-toe and slip/oil-resistant shoes, safety gloves, and seatbelts while operating forklifts).
  • Adhere to food quality and food safety standards as per corporate, customer, and/or governing bodies (e.g., SQF). Report issues with the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) to managerial employees to initiate corrective actions.
  • Perform and complete repair maintenance, preventive maintenance, and line changeovers.
  • Troubleshoot machinery for malfunctions (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic).
  • Maintain all production-supporting equipment (glycol system, RO system, compressed air system, lubrication systems, chemical distribution systems).
  • Use innovative thinking to minimize production downtime while ensuring food safety, product quality, and personnel safety.
  • Complete, document, and retrieve final approvals on assigned work orders, including recording part numbers for inventory.
  • Communicate effectively all relevant maintenance and production-related information between shifts.
  • Assist in training other maintenance personnel.
  • Collaborate with production teams during downtime and work with adjacent teams to resolve issues rapidly and drive improvement.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of previous maintenance experience in manufacturing (preferred).
  • Knowledge of GMPs and food safety requirements.
  • Ability to read, understand, and work with machinery blueprints and parts manuals.
  • Must work without supervision and demonstrate strong decision-making/problem-solving skills.
  • Must obtain and maintain forklift certification.

Working Conditions

Operating in a fast-paced production plant with numerous moving parts. Noise levels require hearing protection, and temperatures can vary from very hot to relatively cold. The environment is structured and supervised.

  • Work Schedule: Weekdays, weekends, afternoons, evenings, and overnights may be required. Overtime scheduled as needed.
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal travel may be required for training.

Pay

Pay Range: $25.83 - $35.50 per hour (depending on education and experience), plus eligibility for performance-based bonuses based on company objectives.
