Maintenance Technician- 1st Shift

About the role

This role will be responsible for maintaining production equipment, site facilities, and assets. The primary focus is troubleshooting and resolving issues with complex equipment applications to support production.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and building maintenance issues in a timely fashion.
• Provide support for production and production equipment to reach optimum capabilities.
• Establish root cause analysis for equipment failures.
• Support project work and continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain established 5S systems and GMP compliance.
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
• Perform adjustments or corrections on equipment to optimize performance.
• Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
• Expand knowledge base on maintenance practices, procedures, and technologies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance.
• Education, training, or applicable experience in a skilled trade related to industrial maintenance (e.g., mechanical, electrical, fluid power, machining, welding).
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools, and electrical devices (e.g., voltmeter, ammeter).
• Ability to read and work from schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and sketches.
• Strong multitasking and communication skills.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Customer service-oriented approach.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, sit, kneel, squat, climb (use of ladders), and work in non-routine positions for extended periods (e.g., 40% standing, 20% sitting, 20% climbing, 20% kneeling/squatting/laying).
• Ability to work long shifts (up to 12 hours per shift in a 24-hour period).
• Ability to perform in varying temperatures and dusty environments with appropriate PPE.
• Hand dexterity for prolonged use of hand tools.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Skills

• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to read a tape measure accurately, calculate percentages, measurements, volume, and rates, and apply high school-level math concepts.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Technical Skills:
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities to ensure efficient operation.
  • Understanding of cost issues to make daily decisions that reduce overall costs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory requirements, including wage and hour laws, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and OSHA.

Certifications

May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License or other certifications for specific equipment or work areas.

Work Environment

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
• Occasional exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
• Loud noise levels in the work environment.
