About the role
The Maintenance Technician will respond to maintenance requests and perform repair duties for both the plant and office.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an electrician in repairing electrical malfunctions and installing/relocating equipment.
- Serve as a plumber in assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, air and sewer systems.
- Serve as a carpenter in the alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding forms, wood fixtures and furniture.
- Make preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment associated with the work orders and projects, take appropriate action to make the needed repairs. Document and update the Supervisor with the statuses of these assignments.
- Examine, test, and measure product from assigned equipment for quality and possible defects, use gauges and instruments, and record data on appropriate forms.
- Attend daily meetings with the Supervisor to discuss and prioritize the known work orders and projects that need to be completed.
- Be available to respond to unplanned maintenance requests received from employees throughout the plant and office.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the plant and the machine operations.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and/or requirements set forth in AKG’s environmental management system (EMS).
Requirements
- Completion of a formal trade school program with equipment maintenance concentration, apprenticeship program and/or on-the-job training by qualified AKG North American Operations Trainer OR
- Minimum of five (5) years of prior experience in the field of general repairs, including at least one (1) year of experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair, and air conditioning.
- Must be available and able to work the agreed upon shift.
Qualifications
Must be able to sit (5%), stand (10%) and walk (85%) of the time. May also be required to bend, stoop, pull, push, twist and turn.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (25%) of the time.
Must be able to use a lift, power tools, grinder, saw, etc.
Must use safety equipment such as steel toe shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection. Safety glasses and hearing protection are provided.
