Maintenance Technician 1

JOB FUNCTION: The ability to solve or troubleshoot mechanical problems will be an asset. Operate and monitor multifunction process control machinery and equipment to control the processing of paper and other cellulose materials in the production of pulp. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years industrial experience.Proof of formal training in specialty areas (i.e., Pneumatics, Hydraulics, mechanical, PLC’s, Instrumentation, etc.)Self-motivated with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision. Must be able to pass a mechanical exam. Must be available for Night Shift and weekends. General Responsibilities Perform all work with adherence to safety and housekeeping proceduresRead and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.Install industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power toolsOperate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during installation, set-up and repair of machineryAdjust machinery to repair or replace defective partsProficiency or ability to learn to operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintain or set-up machineryProficiency or ability to learn to operate Mig and Tig welders, cutting torches, plasma cutters, metal brakes, metal sheers, and other such tools necessary to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintain or set-up machineryAssemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipmentConduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.Work additional hours as necessary to maintain operations in emergency situations and through major planned shutdownsPerform all tasks assigned, participate in specific training programs determined by the needs of the company, and to keep skills current.Startup, shutdown, setup and adjust equipment as requiredInspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctionsTrain or assist in training new workersMaintain and complete records in our CMMS System.Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
