Maintenance Technician 1

About the Role

Operate and monitor multifunction process control machinery and equipment to control the processing of paper and other cellulose materials in the production of pulp.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years industrial experience
• Proof of formal training in specialty areas (e.g., Pneumatics, Hydraulics, mechanical, PLCs, Instrumentation)
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
• Must be able to pass a mechanical exam
• Must be available for Night Shift and weekends

Responsibilities

• Perform all work with adherence to safety and housekeeping procedures
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals
• Install industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during installation, set-up, and repair of machinery
• Adjust machinery to repair or replace defective parts
• Operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery
• Operate Mig and Tig welders, cutting torches, plasma cutters, metal brakes, metal sheers, and other tools necessary to fabricate parts
• Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment
• Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
• Work additional hours as necessary to maintain operations in emergency situations and through major planned shutdowns
• Perform all assigned tasks, participate in specific training programs, and keep skills current
• Startup, shutdown, setup, and adjust equipment as required
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
• Train or assist in training new workers
• Maintain and complete records in the CMMS System
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
