Position Summary

The Industrial Maintenance Technician II is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving manufacturing equipment used in paper converting operations. This position supports production goals by minimizing downtime, ensuring equipment reliability, and promoting a safe working environment.

Troubleshooting and Repair

  • Troubleshoot and repair paper converting equipment, including converting lines, roll handling systems, conveyors, packaging equipment, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
  • Install, maintain, and repair motors, drives, sensors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, and related components.

Support Equipment Changeovers, Upgrades, and Continuous Improvement

  • Support equipment changeovers, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize CMMS software to document work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Aid in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures.

Safety and Collaboration

  • Maintain compliance with safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call schedules as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with paper converting, packaging, tissue, paper products, or similar continuous manufacturing operations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of PLC troubleshooting, VFDs, sensors, and industrial controls.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission systems.
  • Ability to use maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring instruments.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Understanding of OSHA and manufacturing safety requirements.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Certifications

  • Industrial Maintenance Certification.
  • Electrical or Mechatronics Certification.
  • PLC Training/Certification.
  • Forklift and/or Aerial Lift Certification.
