Maintenance Tech I

About the Role

Under limited supervision, set up, adjust, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain assigned equipment with responsibility for production and quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on assigned conveyors, automation, robotics, and ancillary equipment.
• Troubleshoot out-of-service equipment, correct issues, and act as an escalation point for lower-level technicians.
• Escalate complex issues to leadership and/or senior technicians as needed.
• Record all maintenance issues in the maintenance log for each line.
• Document all work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and ticketing systems.
• Maintain accurate records of operating logs for fire pumps, generators, HVAC equipment, and other facility systems tested routinely.
• Perform root cause analysis of major downtime events.
• Assist maintenance mechanics with tasks requiring two people or when operational needs demand.
• Perform facility/building project work, including light bulb/ballast replacement, door repairs, furniture installation, ceiling tile replacement, carpentry, plumbing repairs, and maintaining operation logs.
• Assemble and test equipment to verify correct operation and production.
• Analyze and record causes of production delays on daily production reports and initiate procedures to resolve equipment malfunctions.
• Examine defects, analyze spoilage causes, take corrective action where possible, and verify the effectiveness of fixes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience with conveyor, automation, or robotics equipment repair and maintenance.
• Fundamental understanding of machinery/equipment.
• Basic skill level in multiple computer software packages, including Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working with inputs, outputs, and PLC logic systems, and ability to troubleshoot these systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Physical Abilities

• Frequently move, lift, and carry supplies/equipment up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
• Stand for a minimum of 8 hours and up to 12 hours for up to 6 days a week.
• Ability to continuously ascend and descend ladders and stairs, work at heights, work from a lying position, and work with hands above head.
• Willingness to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklift).
• Write documents and reports using writing instruments and computers.
• Read information, often in small print (e.g., drawings).
• Follow safety procedures such as Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc., and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment.
• Ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards.
• Willingness to work overtime and be available for on-call requests as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, HVAC, or equivalent.
• Graduate of an apprenticeship program or hold a current trade certification.
• At least 3 years of experience in a building maintenance position servicing a facility larger than 75,000 square feet.

Pay

$28.75 - $41.75 hourly. The actual salary will vary based on location, education, experience, skills, and abilities.
