Maintenance Specialist – Valves System
Job Summary
This position supports plant maintenance and operations as a subject matter expert for valve operation and applications. Responsibilities include ensuring strict adherence to valve preventative maintenance/testing programs and compliance with safety codes and company inspection/testing requirements. The plant valve specialist monitors daily equipment needs, provides input on repair solutions, coordinates with valve specialty contractors, and works with plant system owners and financial analysts to ensure proper accounting of maintenance and capital plans in the budget.
About the Role
The role requires monitoring daily equipment needs, coordinating with valve specialty contractors, and working with plant system owners and financial analysts to ensure maintenance and capital plans are properly accounted for in the budget. This position may also be required to support additional areas of the plant if necessary.
Responsibilities
- Maintain strict adherence to valve preventative maintenance/testing program and compliance with safety codes and company inspection/testing requirements
- Monitor daily reporting for equipment needs and provide input on repair solutions to ensure equipment/process reliability
- Coordinate with valve specialty contractors as needed
- Provide budget projections and work with plant system owners and financial analysts to ensure maintenance and capital plans are properly accounted for in the budget
- Support additional areas of the plant if necessary due to vacations, vacancies, or workload
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Power plant or other industrial plant experience preferred but not required
- Valve and actuator repair experience preferred from repair shop or plant experience
- Valve diagnostics and troubleshooting experience preferred
- Power or industrial plant operations/maintenance experience, or specific maintenance experience strongly desired
- Experience implementing maintenance strategies and inspections on mechanical power plant equipment strongly desired
Qualifications
- Basic mechanical aptitude and good understanding of power plant systems
- Good working knowledge of various valve designs and their applications, as well as a working knowledge of various mechanical equipment operation and maintenance
- Basic understanding of plant electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls
- Excellent computer skills and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to appropriately prioritize, plan, and manage multiple work activities simultaneously
