Maintenance Specialist – Valves System

Job Summary

This position supports plant maintenance and operations as a subject matter expert for valve operation and applications. Responsibilities include ensuring strict adherence to valve preventative maintenance/testing programs, compliance with safety codes, and monitoring equipment needs. The role involves providing input on repair solutions and coordinating with valve specialty contractors. Additionally, the plant valve specialist is responsible for budget projections and collaborating with plant system owners and financial analysts.

About the Role

The plant valve specialist works within a power plant or similar industrial setting. They must have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant experience in power plants or industrial settings. Valve and actuator repair experience, valve diagnostics and troubleshooting skills, and knowledge of power plant systems are preferred. Excellent computer skills, written and verbal communication abilities, and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure strict adherence to valve preventative maintenance/testing program and compliance with safety codes and company inspection/testing requirements.
• Monitor daily reporting for equipment needs and provide input on repair solutions to maintain equipment/process reliability.
• Coordinate with valve specialty contractors as needed.
• Provide budget projections and collaborate with plant system owners and financial analysts to ensure maintenance and capital plans are properly accounted for in the budget.
• Support additional areas of the plant if necessary due to vacations, vacancies, or workload.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Power plant or other industrial plant experience preferred but not required.
• Valve and actuator repair experience preferred from repair shop or plant experience.
• Valve diagnostics and troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of power plant systems, valve designs, mechanical equipment operation and maintenance, and plant electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls.
• Excellent computer skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, plan, and manage multiple work activities simultaneously.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of power plant systems.
• Working knowledge of various valve designs and applications, mechanical equipment operation and maintenance.
• Basic understanding of plant electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls.
• Appropriate prioritization, planning, and management of multiple work activities.
