Perform a variety of repairs and installations to school facilities across multiple crafts, including carpentry, flooring, wall, ceiling, and painting.
Responsibilities
- Identify and resolve maintenance repair problems related to multi-skills craft.
- Measure, cut, and shape various materials to fit repairs for numerous maintenance issues.
- Safely construct and use scaffolding, extension ladders, and hydraulic lift buckets for exterior painting of multi-level facilities.
- Assist painting craftspeople with special projects as needed.
- Work evening shifts or other schedules to accommodate District needs.
- Maintain inventory of assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles; report problems immediately and provide documentation during inspections.
- Follow District safety guidelines, using proper safety practices for hand and power tools and equipment.
- Wear assigned safety equipment at all times.
- Maintain accurate records for labor, materials, work order completion, project orders, manufacturer’s technical data sheets, and material safety data sheets.
- Report observed maintenance problems requiring action from other Maintenance departments.
- Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff, and auxiliary services personnel.
- Respond to after-hour/emergency callouts, participate in emergency call-out rotation, and flex work hours as needed.
- Comply with District policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.
- Comply with time and effort reporting requirements for federally funded positions.
Requirements
- Accredited High School Diploma or USA equivalency.
- Three (3) years of work experience in four different crafts, including one (1) year of experience in carpentry, flooring, ceiling repair, and painting.
- Masonry, plaster, or ceramic tile experience is desired.
- Demonstrated general knowledge of various types of interior and exterior paints, solvents, primers, stains, acrylics, lacquers, epoxies, and other industry coatings.
- Demonstrated ability to use paint spray equipment, power equipment, or hand application.
- Must pass a physical to wear a half-face negative pressure respirator.
- Must be clean-shaven at all times if certified to wear a respirator.
- Demonstrated ability to work under general supervision.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Skills in accurate record keeping and computer database management, including work orders and material procurement.
- Ability to complete work orders accurately.
- Maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with a driving record that meets District standards.
- Pass a Dallas ISD random drug test.
Pay
- Minimum Salary: $26.66 per hour
- Median Salary: $32.51 per hour
