BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in performing routine preventative maintenance and facility upkeep.
- Repairs and replaces furniture items, home equipment such as venetian blinds.
- Performs routine plumbing work, such as unstopping toilets and drains, replacing faucets, valves and washers, and repairing water line leaks.
- Performs routine electrical work such as replacing light bulbs, outlets, switches, etc. and limited repairs of electrical motor, generators, and communication systems.
- Performs routine lawn maintenance and maintenance on lawn equipment including mowers, weed-eaters, and tractors.
- Performs minor painting, gutter cleaning, water removal on buildings as needed.
- Arranges for and/or conducts maintenance of large appliances owned by the agency.
- Assists with moving furniture, boxes, supplies, and other heavy objects.
- Maintains records as required.
- Assists in performing transportation as necessary and keeps agency vehicles in proper working order.
- Completes all work orders assigned to you and closes them once they are completed.
- Cleans filters and oils motors, replaces belts, filters, switches, gauges, motors, on agency vehicles.
Physical Expectations
- This position requires extended periods of walking and standing with some periods of sitting.
- It may require light (5 lbs.) to heavy lifting (50 lbs.) and occasional stooping, kneeling, and/or bending.
- May also require occasional climbing ladders up to two (2) stories and operating power tools and equipment.
Working Conditions
- The employee will be exposed to office/home environment with noises from appliances, telephones, machinery, and power and hand tools.
- The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and/or infectious diseases, extreme heat and/or cold, and potentially toxic fumes, liquids, insects, etc.
- Must carry a cell phone and be willing to respond 24 hours a day in an emergency.
- Office/home environment with noises from appliances, telephones, and occasional small machinery (lawn mower, etc.).
- May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and/or infectious diseases. Occasionally, prolonged hours or unusual chores to meet the unexpected needs of the individuals (i.e. medical and/or behavioral).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 20 years of age or older.
- A minimum of two (2) years' experience in both vehicle and property maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of standard tools and practices of the various trades such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and plastering.
- Basic knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the mechanical and building trades.
- The ability to effectively and efficiently use computers or mobile devices to input, access, modify, or output information. This includes the ability to quickly access, store and retrieve data.
- Safe driving record and must obtain a Class E Driver's License during New Hire Orientation.
- Must obtain coverage applicable by law for auto insurance.
- Must receive seasonal flu vaccination.
