Maintenance Specialist
Responsibilities
Maintains manufacturing processes and equipment in optimum condition; integrates several process techniques focused on achieving high levels of overall process effectiveness (TPO)
Applies fundamental understanding of team in development and active participation in a team environment through Division and Plant team orientation, and safety and quality training
Provides technical assistance and professional leadership to lower-level technicians
Assists in troubleshooting to determine root cause of equipment failures and determine best corrective and preventive measures
Assists with rebuilding / replacing equipment and components
Orders materials, parts, supplies, tools, and equipment
Completes administrative tasks as required by SOPs
Samples work and work orders to ensure quality control
Repairs & Replacement:
- BUILDING SYSTEMS: Repairs plant equipment
- ELECTRICAL: Replaces boards, relays, and input-output modules; calculates proper wire sizes and material
- ELECTRONICS: Replaces PC boards, relays, and input-output modules; burns chips and program systems
- HYDRAULIC: Replaces cylinders, valves, and pumps; performs preventative maintenance (e.g., 4-way / Vickers valves); repairs motor
- MACHINERY: Repairs / modifies / replaces parts on all production and facility equipment; calculates speed ratio, sprocket sizes, and gear box size when modifying / replacing / repairing gear box assembly
- PNEUMATIC: Maintains/ replaces / repairs all pneumatic equipment
- REFRIGERATION / HVAC: Maintains / repairs freon, glycol, and ammonia refrigeration systems
- WELDING: Plans / organizes / performs all types of welding (gas, arc, Heliarc) to weld various beads, but lap, fillet, and sanitary tubing; welds pressure vessels
Qualifications & Key Requirements
5+ years of experience as a multi-skilled industrial maintenance technician
Experience in maintenance
Experience in electrical / mechanical / equipment (for building & process) repair
Experience completely disassembling process equipment and repairing, improving, and reassembling for re-use
Meets all criteria for Maintenance Partners I, II, and III (knowledge, skills, abilities)
Knowledge of programmable logic controller (PLC)
Ability to troubleshoot PLCs
Fluency in spoken / written English
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Travel by car or plane with overnight stays
Regularly lift up to 20 lbs
Occasionally lift 20 lbs or more
Work extended hours
Work rotating schedules
Maneuver through the facility and perform functions of the job, with or without accommodation (standing, stooping, bending, etc.)
Work in wet, cold, or hot environments, depending on Plant location, where temperatures are:
- Snacks: temperature-controlled environment ranging from 80-100 degrees F
- Floral: temperature-controlled environment ranging from 32-42 degrees F
- Milk: routinely 60-80 degrees F in a wet environment, occasionally 38 degrees F in certain areas
- Ice Cream: (-)40 to 80 degrees F, certain areas in a wet environment
- Tortilla: 80-100 degrees F
- Bakery: 80-100 degrees F
