This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent, overtime-eligible position.

About the role

As the Maintenance Specialist 4, you will be responsible for the maintenance and care of Campus Recreation facilities, including the Student Recreation Center, as well as grass and artificial turf play field facilities. You will supervise a variety of journey trades workers or general maintenance mechanics performing work on recreation buildings, grounds, and equipment. In this role, you will develop, implement, and monitor training programs for maintenance and grounds staff, establish and evaluate workflow priorities, and provide clear instructions and information to unit personnel. You will also organize, facilitate, and lead staff meetings to support effective communication, coordination, and operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and care for Campus Recreation facilities, including the Student Recreation Center and play field facilities.
  • Supervise journey trades workers or general maintenance mechanics.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor training programs for maintenance and grounds staff.
  • Establish and evaluate workflow priorities.
  • Provide clear instructions and information to unit personnel.
  • Organize, facilitate, and lead staff meetings.

Qualifications

Required

  • Three years full-time experience as a journey tradesworker, or equivalent, including one year, full-time experience as a lead or supervisor.
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated basic computer knowledge, including the ability to use email, spreadsheets, and word documents.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a collegiate environment.
  • Knowledge of pumps, motors, and electrical installation.
  • Experience in higher education athletic or recreation setting.

Pay

Monthly Salary: $6,542 to $7,592 (Range 58G, Steps G - M). Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
