Maintenance Service Worker - FS Operations Laborer
About the role
The UAF Facilities Services Labor department is looking for our newest team member. This is a full time benefited position that offers opportunities for advancement. The selected candidate will become part of a team who provides labor services and support to the UAF campus community, as well as the shops and departments of Facilities Services. Work tasks may include snow removal, office moves, departmental moves, event set ups, concrete repair, sign repair, etc. The ideal candidate will support the successful operations of the general services provided by Facilities Services Department of Maintenance & Operations.
Responsibilities
- Supports the successful operations of the general services provided by Facilities Services Department of Maintenance & Operations.
- May perform tasks such as snow removal, office moves, departmental moves, event set ups, concrete repair, sign repair, etc.
- Must be proficient with hand and power tools, capable of lifting heavy objects, and skilled in understanding and following written instructions.
- Detail-oriented, capable of working independently or as part of a team, and able to handle maintenance, cleaning, and debris removal tasks.
Requirements
- Apprentice level or equivalent certification; or a minimum of six years multi-trade experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A high school diploma/GED preferred, 2+ years’ of construction or moving industry experience preferred, basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.
- Alaska driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction, or similar general labor roles.
Skills
- Proficient with hand and power tools.
- Capable of lifting heavy objects.
- Skilled in understanding and following written instructions.
- Detail-oriented.
- Independent or team-working ability.
- Handling maintenance, cleaning, and debris removal tasks.

Pay
MSW4 /Step 1 $22.80/hr. (See Article 9.2 in the L6070 Collective Bargaining Agreement, Wage Grade Schedule).
