Maintenance Senior Industrial Electrician

About the role
We are seeking a skilled Senior Industrial Electrician with a New Jersey Class A Journeyman Electrician license to oversee and guide other electricians and ensure the optimal functioning of all equipment and machines at our facility. This position requires extensive knowledge of electrical components as well as electrical safety codes and regulations. The ideal candidate will be professional, technical, and mechanically proficient, with the ability to operate tools near electrical components. We operate a safe, clean facility and consider security and safety our top priorities.
Reports to: Maintenance Manager | Location: Onsite, Richards Manufacturing Facility (Irvington, NJ) | Hours: Full Time, including Saturdays
Responsibilities
- Oversee and guide other electricians in the department to ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical industrial and facilities equipment.
- Interact with work instructions and maintain parts inventory from a computer.
- Perform scheduled inspections, servicing, and testing of equipment (preventive maintenance).
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Perform and approve Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) permits.
- Perform and approve shock & arc flash risk assessments.
- Assist and/or facilitate the completion by a third-party supplier of an electrical power systems study, including device coordination, short circuit analysis, and incident energy analysis.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and crawling, per OSHA guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Class A Journeyman Electrician License, NJ (required).
- Electrical Safety & Arc Flash Training (required).
- Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, and OSHA safety practices.
- Experience with A/C 120/208/480 Volts 3-phase systems and D/C 12/24 Volts.
- Proficiency in installing and bending EMT.
- Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Siemens).
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulics is a plus.
- Good communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
- Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.
Qualifications
- Electrical Technology or Engineering Degree (preferred).
- Electrical certifications demonstrating hands-on maintenance ability (preferred).
