Maintenance Retort Specialist

About the role

The Maintenance Retort Specialist is responsible for ensuring retorts are clear of debris and functioning efficiently. Key responsibilities include reviewing production schedules, preparing materials, providing guidance to operators, implementing lean manufacturing techniques, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

• Review production schedule and identify time requirements for retorts processes that could incur glass breakage.
• Achieve glass breakage prevention while being agile and responsive to changing situations and schedules.
• Ensure proper material and parts are prepared for glass breakage scenarios.
• Support and guide machine operators on glass breakage issues to minimize downtime.
• Become proficient with lean manufacturing initiatives and implement these techniques to optimize retort cleaning processes.
• Properly clean and store secondary equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and replace secondary parts.
• Estimate repair times and document work orders in AMMS.
• Review manuals, blueprints, and supply catalogs to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Maintain spare part availability and keep accurate counts for retort parts.
• Communicate effectively with Production Team Leaders, Maintenance team, and coworkers.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime as needed.
• Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on buildings and equipment as necessary.
• Perform a variety of semiskilled duties as assigned.
• Comply with established safety guidelines and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successfully completed, enrolled, or willing to enroll in a technical college cohort program.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Leverage lean manufacturing experience.
