Maintenance Repairman 2 - Norristown State Hospital
Description of Work
This position provides skilled maintenance and repair services across several trades to support safe and reliable operations at Norristown State Hospital. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Plumbing and Heating: Repair piping, waste lines, heating units, and related components throughout the facility
- Electrical Work: Make minor electrical repairs and maintain equipment and lighting systems
- Carpentry and Construction: Remodel building structures and build items such as shelving, cabinets, and walls
- Painting and Finishing: Prepare surfaces, apply coatings, and refinish furniture and structural elements
- Material Management: Estimate materials, transport supplies, and complete required documentation
- Safety Practices: Follow approved safety procedures, maintain clean work areas, and assist in asbestos abatement tasks
Qualifications
Required Experience, Training & Eligibility:
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
- Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
Overtime and travel as operationally necessary
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
