Maintenance Project Engineer
About the role
The Maintenance Project Engineer manages maintenance evolutions and support functions for the fleet, ensuring safe, proper, and efficient maintenance in compliance with company policies and standards. Key responsibilities include overseeing maintenance projects, coordinating with contractors, preparing project scopes, and managing contractor teams.
Responsibilities
- Supervise assigned projects and provide oversight
- Coordinate work with outside contractors and engineers
- Develop work scopes, request proposals, and prepare purchase orders
- Prepare cost estimates, schedules, and purchase documents
- Review and handle drawings and submittals
- Perform field work and troubleshoot equipment issues
- Support engineering and maintenance departments in executing capital improvement projects
- Develop and maintain 5-year maintenance plans and budgets
- Anticipate and identify potential problems, taking appropriate action
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Participate in safety programs and follow safety procedures
- Complete required training programs and adhere to safety guidelines
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment as needed
Requirements
Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, five years of experience in the power generation industry with three years in project management, and experience in an incineration plant environment. Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite and CMMS programs are essential. Must maintain all necessary licenses and comply with local, state, federal, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred
- Five years of experience in the power generation industry with a minimum of three years of project management experience; experience in an incineration plant environment is preferred
- Knowledge of steam turbine-generator operations, components, and maintenance practices
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) and familiarity with CMMS programs
- Maintain all licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies
