About the role

Performs advanced preventive maintenance (PM) on a variety of production machinery, including CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machining centers. Handles simple machine repair, fabrication, and welding as assigned. Ensures compliance with processes and systems for HAZMAT, OSHA, DEQ, and other regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Supervisor, Unit Specialist, or trainer to perform advanced preventive maintenance.
  • Provides routine maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning, to production areas while meeting performance, ergonomic, and safety standards.
  • Inspects and occasionally recommends repair or replacement of components.
  • Collaborates with maintenance leadership and senior mechanics for project direction.
  • Checks and adjusts equipment backlash as part of the preventive maintenance routine.
  • Performs light machine repair, fabrication, and welding as assigned.
  • Trains and mentors other mechanics on preventive maintenance.
  • Actively participates in the department's continuous improvement efforts, focusing on permanent problem resolution.
  • Maintains maintenance records in CMMS (Cribmaster) and orders preventive maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Follows and adheres to all ISO, OSHA, and DEQ requirements.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of related mechanical/technical work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with hand tools and power tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use measuring equipment, including inside/outside micrometers, dial indicators, and heat monitoring guns.
  • Working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn new programs such as CMMS (CribMaster).
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and troubleshoot problems.
  • Capability to interpret machine part books used in this position.
  • Understanding of tolerance required on production machinery and ability to fabricate repair parts.
  • Must fulfill the minimum qualifications of Maintenance PM Mechanic I.
  • Must hold or obtain HazMat certification within the first year of employment; all required licensures must be maintained and kept up to date.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis.
  • Manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools, and equipment repetitively.
  • Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift.
  • Exposure to chemicals, noise, vibration, and/or dust may occur; appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and foot protection is required.
