Maintenance Planner Operational Readiness
About the role
The Maintenance Planner, Operational Readiness plays a key role in ensuring the effective planning, scheduling, and execution of Hermosa's work management processes. This role is responsible for establishing a strong work management foundation through the development and management of master data, including equipment strategies, job plans, material codes, and asset criticality assessments during the initial phase. Over time, the role transitions into a full-time maintenance planning position, with accountability for weekly planning, scheduling, contractor coordination, and shutdown planning to support operational efficiency and compliance with organizational standards. This role is critical in supporting South32 Hermosa's operational readiness and long-term asset reliability objectives.
Responsibilities
- Build and validate equipment maintenance strategies and task lists.
- Develop detailed work instructions to support safe and efficient execution.
- Ensure alignment with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles.
- Conduct criticality assessments on assets to determine risk and prioritization.
- Categorize equipment based on operational impact, safety, failure modes, and cost implications.
- Use criticality rankings to drive maintenance strategy development and resource allocation.
- Create and maintain material master data in the ERP system (e.g., SAP).
- Establish and manage material master data, critical components, and inventory strategies.
- Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to optimize stock levels.
- Ensure accurate and complete master data entry for maintenance activities.
- Support work management system improvements by refining data structures.
- Provide data-driven insights to improve asset reliability and planning efficiency.
- Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans.
- Create and manage weekly and quarterly work schedules.
- Ensure work orders are properly documented, approved, and prioritized.
- Develop and manage shutdown work scopes to minimize downtime.
- Cookordinate and oversee contractor mobilization and execution.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and budgetary constraints.
- Analyze work management metrics to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Participate in feedback loops to optimize maintenance strategies.
- Support reliability initiatives through data-driven decision-making.
