A chance to love what you do … at KC Streetcar! Herzog Transit Services Inc. is currently seeking a Maintenance of Way (MOW) Manager in Kansas City, MO to join our team for the KC Streetcar. Duties And Responsibilities This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.Supervises technician(s), service maintainers and subcontractor for on-call OCS/TPSS repairSupervises external MOW contractors, suppliers, and vendorsPerforms diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs of a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) lite systemPerform diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of the electrical power system that includes the overhead contact system (OCS), and the traction power sub-stations (TPSS)Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance to the train-to-wayside signal systemPerform diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of all track and switchesPerform diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of equipment located in the VMF & MOW FacilityPerform diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance to all Streetcar StationsPerform thorough preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelinesUse test equipment, typical shop tools, torque wrenches, multimeter, power supplies, oscilloscopes, grounding devices, and portable test unitsMaintain cleanliness and safety of work and shop areasResponsible for VMF, alignment grounds, lawn care, and upkeepUtilizing owner provided Maintenance Management System, prepare and maintain a variety of work orders, maintenance and inspection reportsMust interpret and execute items in contract between KCSA and HerzogMust oversee and maintain hours of service (HOS)Must be able to respond to emergencies 24/7Assist/train Technician(s) as neededEnsure department compliance, through SMS, with agency safety plans and documentsConduct safety inspections of the jobsite, public areas, adjacent thereto, take necessary and timely corrective actions to eliminate any unsafe acts or conditionsParticipate in all departmental, agency, city, State and FTA safety and security auditsParticipate in the hazard identification and resolution processRegular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.College or Technical School (electrician) degree is a plusExperience with Streetcar and/or PLC system maintenanceSkill in maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and overhauling electrical and mechanical systemsKnowledge of mechanical and electrical principles, repair methods, standards and practicesKnowledge of test equipment and tools needed in the repair, maintenance, and installation of mechanical, electronic, and electrical systems and equipmentStrong knowledge of electronics including digital and analog systemsKnowledge of general shop safety proceduresSkill communicating orally and in writingSkill in performing maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and safety/preventive maintenance inspectionsSkill in implementing preventive maintenance and safety inspection proceduresSkill in using test and shop equipment and tools, parts and supply manualsSkill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of businessSkill in the use of electronic schematics, portable test units and diagnostic softwareWelding Certification a plusAbility to read, understand and apply technical information from service manualsAbility to read and follow verbal and written directions; ability to read, understand, and apply technical information found in repair manuals, service change bulletins, and applicable technical documents, including parts and supply manualsAbility to operate a computer and familiarity with MS Office products and maintenance information systemsAbility to use a cutting torch when necessarySkilled in using a computer, proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to obtain and maintain a Streetcar Yard Operation certificationSkill in leading and training othersSkill in working under established deadlines and timeframes Pre-Employment Requirements Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
