About the role
The Mechanic assists with general maintenance, minor repairs, and basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems within the independent and assisted living community. This role supports the overall facility operations by ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents and staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and facility equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and report them to the Mechanic II or Facilities Supervisor.
- Aid in basic carpentry, painting, and general building upkeep.
- Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner.
- Support emergency maintenance needs under supervision.
- Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment in an organized and functional manner.
- Follow safety procedures and ensure compliance with facility maintenance guidelines.
- Provide assistance in setting up and maintaining resident safety equipment, such as handrails and accessibility features.
- Work collaboratively with senior mechanics and facility staff to ensure efficient facility operations.
Qualifications
- High school or trade school diploma with courses in mechanical, carpentry and electrical preferred.
- Must have a current, valid NYS driver license.
Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in general maintenance, facility maintenance, or a related field.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $20.00-$24.00 per hour, with pay varying depending upon relevant experience for the position.
Schedule
This role is full-time, working 40 hours per week on Monday through Friday, with on-call every 4 weeks.
