Maintenance Mechanic Job

Armstrong World Industries, Inc. is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support 24/7 manufacturing operations at our Marietta, PA plant, which produces mineral fiber ceiling tiles in a fast-paced environment. This role ensures the plant meets key performance metrics for safety, quality, throughput, delivery, and cost. Pay range: $36.65–$42.76 per hour, with progression opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and processes.
• Assemble, dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment to maintain operational effectiveness and production requirements.
• Work on equipment such as powered conveyors, paint booths, gas-fired dryers, robotic palletizers, dust collectors, and pump systems.
• Execute predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance as scheduled.
• Use hand tools, portable power tools, and shop equipment (e.g., drill press, hack saw, grinder, lathe).
• Requisition and procure materials from the storeroom.
• Work from prints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
• Maintain personal work tools.
• Perform miscellaneous related duties, including covering shift vacancies (nights/weekends as needed).
• Collaborate with operators, mechanics, electricians, and engineers to solve manufacturing problems.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing/plant environment.
• Ability to operate mobile equipment and work with limited supervision.
• Proficiency in precision tasks, including alignments using lasers and dial indicators.
• Willingness to train in basic electrical troubleshooting for maintenance.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical equipment repair/installation.
• Familiarity with predictive maintenance practices (e.g., vibration, ultrasound) is desired.

Preferred Qualifications

• Journeyman certification as an Industrial Mechanic or Millwright.
• Five or more years of plant mechanical maintenance experience.
