Maintenance Mechanic II (Full Time)

Position Description

The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for making a variety of general repairs to existing Zoo & Aquarium infrastructure and systems, as well as other maintenance duties such as painting and building basic structures for staff, guests and animals.

Position Duties & Essential Functions

• This position may at times be requested to perform other duties or special projects as assigned, which are in the best interest of the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education & Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years general maintenance or carpentry experience desired. Knowledge of and experience using various power tools and maintenance equipment.

Other Minimum Requirements

• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds and have sufficient mobility to ensure a safe work environment.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, climb, bend and stoop.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes.
• Must pass a background and drug screening.
