About the role

The Maintenance Mechanic will maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment and machinery, including occasional fabrication to support repairs. This position emphasizes equipment safety and uptime while collaborating with engineering to resolve quality and production-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and execute maintenance on all production equipment with an emphasis on safety and uptime.
  • Collaborate with engineering to resolve quality and production-related issues in the spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and correct PLC and control circuit faults, utilizing electrical test equipment (Allen-Bradley control architecture preferred).
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Perform basic machining (mill, lathe, drill) and welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) to fabricate replacement parts and modify machine components.
  • Diagnose and analyze difficult operating malfunctions and prioritize major, extensive, or emergency repairs.
  • Utilize and improve the CMMS to document work orders, prioritize preventative maintenance programs, and perform timely equipment inspections.
  • Participate in continuous improvement in safety, quality, and housekeeping.
  • Communicate maintenance situations clearly within the department, across shifts, and to engineering and management.
  • Adhere to OSHA and job site safety practices, including LOTO, confined space, and working at heights.
  • Work individually on projects and collaboratively in a team environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial electrical-mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with repair of manufacturing equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.
  • Ability to rebuild complex mechanical components.
  • Experience and training in PLCs/HMIs programming and diagnostics (Allen Bradley preferred).
  • High school education required; vocational school, apprenticeship, or journeyman experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of schematic diagrams, blueprints, advanced mathematics, and precise measuring tools.
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and electronic test equipment.
  • Trade school or credential in programmable controllers, welding, electrical, or mechanical preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for complex equipment issues.

Skills

  • Mental and visual reasoning for intense and complex work.
  • Good judgment and decision-making.
  • Physical ability to stand continuously, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform frequent stretching, pushing, pulling, or carrying.
  • Ability to work inside and outside in varying temperatures.
  • Solid working knowledge of computers.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (1st shift).

Work Setting

In-person at the Norwell, MA warehouse.
