About the role
The Maintenance Mechanic position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of packaging lines at PCI. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing equipment to maintain high-quality product standards.
Responsibilities
- Supports packaging lines by making routine and non-routine adjustments to ensure a high-quality product.
- Collaborates with other departments to optimize line efficiency and performance.
- Performs preventive maintenance, changeovers, repairs, and running adjustments.
- Asserts personal ideas and opinions to support the internal customer and achieve site business goals.
- Provides guidance to others by responding to questions, observing work activity, and giving direction when necessary.
- Leads cross-functional teams to support new product launches and production processes.
- Improves Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by focusing on rate, yield, and utilization, minimizing downtime, mitigating defects, and eliminating waste.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and services.
- May require overtime and weekend work, requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR).
- Adheres to PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, and rules.
- Attends and actively participates in problem-solving meetings and audits the centerline document system to ensure sustainability and productivity.
- Monitors, adjusts, and provides technical expertise or training to meet or exceed OEE targets.
- Assumes the responsibility and job functions of a supervisor when the supervisor is unavailable.
- Documents and drives actions for respective value streams.
- Updates setup documentation to ensure all settings are current and accurate.
- Works with Business Units and Scheduling to maintain timelines for launches or validations of products.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and/or 3-5 years related experience and/or training.
- Ability to speak in a way that allows effective participation in various conversations.
- Basic mathematical skills and proficiency in using computers.
