About the role

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall management of maintenance functions to ensure continuous operation of Paragon properties from both production and facilities perspectives. This position oversees complex projects from inception to completion, provides direction to maintenance staff, and collaborates with plant management to prioritize tasks and identify improvement opportunities. The role requires adherence to safety and efficiency procedures in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, plans, and formulates predictive and preventative maintenance programs, organizing maintenance staff for repairs of mechanical, electrical, and physical structures.
  • Coordinates and oversees building repairs with contractors and Paragon personnel, scheduling and resolving maintenance issues.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of maintenance requirements for governmental agencies such as OSHA.
  • Directs integration of technical activities and provides technical support to plant operations, analyzing designs to improve processes.
  • Ensures accuracy in setting, leveling, and aligning process equipment.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to maintenance staff, ensuring adherence to company standards and offering career development opportunities.
  • Oversees staffing for the maintenance department, collaborating with Plant HR on reviews, disciplinary actions, and employee relations.
  • Utilizes Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to review shift reports and work orders.
  • Interprets blueprints to understand machinery and facilities maintenance requirements.
  • Ensures the Maintenance Department complies with all safety requirements and training is up to date.
  • Maintains current knowledge of machines and facilities through ongoing learning, seminars, and training.

Requirements

  • Complete understanding of AC & DC electronics, systems, and components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot AC & DC circuitry, PLCs, and automated equipment systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and utilize blueprints (schematics).
  • Advanced wiring skills.
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, including industrial 3-phase electrical systems.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of hand tools and maintenance-related equipment (e.g., digital/analog voltmeters, amp meters, oscilloscopes).
  • Experience using welding machines and torches.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Availability for on-call duties during off-shift hours.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • High dependability regarding attendance, punctuality, and on-call availability for maintenance issues.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment, working on both facilities and machinery.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Maintenance experience in a plastics manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Experience with industrial 3-phase electrical systems and troubleshooting (preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use hands and fingers for gripping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor tasks.
  • Regular pushing, pulling, and overhead arm extension.
  • Continuous standing and walking on concrete floors for 12-hour shifts.
  • Frequent crouching, stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing stairs or ladders.
  • Occasional climbing on uneven surfaces and elevated platforms.
  • Regular twisting of the shoulder, neck, waist, and hip area.
  • Regular rotation of the neck to look in multiple directions.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 65 lbs regularly and up to 80 lbs occasionally with assistance.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate verbally in person and over paging systems.
  • Ability to meet requirements for and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Schedule

Work involves overtime, shift rotations, and schedule changes. Requires adherence to deadlines and project completion timelines.
