About the role

As the Maintenance Manager at Yora Nordic Spa, you will be one of the first members of our on-site leadership team. This role will recruit, welcome, train, and lead the founding Maintenance and Pool Operations team to prepare Yora Nordic Spa for its opening in November 2026. You will create trust that everything works, allowing wellbeing to happen through preventive maintenance, technical expertise, and thoughtful leadership. This role ensures every system, space, and piece of equipment performs safely and reliably so guests can reconnect with themselves, others, and nature.

This role is anticipated to start on or around September 28, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop an engaged Maintenance and Pool Operations team.
  • Build a culture grounded in safety, craftsmanship, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare the facility and technical team for opening through clear standards, training, testing, and hands-on leadership.
  • Lead daily maintenance operations across the property and respond promptly to operational issues while minimizing guest disruption.
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs that improve equipment reliability and extend asset life.
  • Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life-safety, water-treatment, pool, sauna, steam-room, and other mechanical systems.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, equipment records, inspections, and regulatory documentation.
  • Manage maintenance scheduling, labor, tools, parts, supplies, and inventory.
  • Coordinate contractors, service providers, capital projects, and equipment-replacement planning.
  • Partner with Housekeeping and Operations to maintain safe, comfortable, and uninterrupted guest environments.
  • Support water quality, facility safety, and regulatory compliance through effective monitoring and follow-through.
  • Manage departmental operating expenses and contribute to capital and annual budget planning.
  • Use equipment data, operating trends, and team observations to improve reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
  • Set clear expectations, recognize strong performance, and model Yora's values of Simple, Inclusive, Natural, and Social.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience in maintenance, engineering, wellness, hospitality, or commercial facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water-treatment, and life-safety systems.
  • Experience managing preventive maintenance programs, contractors, and capital planning.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing technical teams.
  • Experience with scheduling, labor management, inventory control, and operating budgets.
  • Strong organization, communication, technical troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • A visible, calm, and hands-on leadership style with a strong commitment to safety and reliability.
  • A genuine interest in wellness and creating environments where guests can relax without thinking about what is happening behind the scenes.

Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site leadership position. The Maintenance Manager must be available to support operations across mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays and participate in occasional on-call coverage. Additional flexibility will be required during the pre-opening and opening periods.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

This is an active position requiring work throughout indoor and outdoor spa areas, mechanical rooms, and equipment spaces. The role involves:

  • Extended standing and walking
  • Climbing stairs and ladders
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and crouching
  • Pushing and pulling equipment
  • Carrying routine tools, parts, and operational materials

Employees work around water, humidity, steam, chemicals, mechanical and electrical equipment, changing temperatures, outdoor weather conditions, noise, and wet or slippery surfaces. Appropriate safety procedures and protective equipment must be used. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
