MAINTENANCE MANAGER
Moonfleet Manor, part of the Luxury Family Hotels collection, is a much-loved coastal hotel where exceptional standards meet a relaxed, family‑focused atmosphere. We are dedicated to providing our guests with an exceptional experience and are looking for an enthusiastic, hands‑on Maintenance Manager to join our team. This role is key in supporting the smooth running of the hotel’s facilities, ensuring our guests enjoy a safe, comfortable, and memorable stay.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced, hands‑on and proactive Maintenance Manager to take ownership of the day‑to‑day maintenance function at Moonfleet Manor. This is a practical management role within a busy hotel environment. You will lead from the front, working alongside the maintenance team when required, while ensuring that daily works are properly prioritised, allocated and progressed through to completion.
Responsibilities
- Lead, organise and work alongside the maintenance team, setting clear daily priorities and ensuring agreed works are completed.
- Take ownership of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across the hotel, grounds, plant and facilities.
- Hold key responsibility for Health and Safety within the maintenance function, including risk assessments, safe systems of work, contractor controls and completion of relevant compliance actions.
- Maintain strong oversight of statutory maintenance, servicing, inspections, records and remedial works.
- Be practically capable across a range of general maintenance disciplines and willing to be hands‑on as part of the team.
- Take responsibility for the operation and maintenance of our swimming pool and associated plant, ensuring appropriate testing, records and standards are maintained.
- Recognise when specialist expertise is required, obtain quotations, coordinate contractors and retain ownership through to completion.
- Prioritise effectively across safety, compliance, operational requirements, preventative maintenance and guest experience.
- Manage maintenance expenditure responsibly and provide clear, costed recommendations where further approval is required.
- Work closely with the Hotel Manager and wider operational team to minimise disruption and maintain the standards expected within a luxury family hotel.
- Demonstrate strong ownership, organisation and follow‑through, bringing solutions and recommendations rather than simply escalating problems.
Requirements
- Previous maintenance experience within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Previous practical experience of swimming pools and pool plant operation.
- Experience leading or supervising a maintenance team within a busy operational environment.
- Strong practical maintenance knowledge across a range of disciplines.
- A good working knowledge of Health and Safety, risk assessment and statutory property compliance.
- Experience managing external contractors and obtaining and assessing quotations.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities independently.
- A collaborative, practical approach and willingness to work alongside the team.
- The judgement to recognise and communicate the limits of your own competence and engage appropriate specialist support when required.
- Pool Plant Operator qualification is highly desirable, with appropriate training and certification expected where required.
- Experience working with older, listed or complex buildings would be an advantage.
Benefits
- Training and development central to life at LFH, with Institute of Hospitality certification and partnerships with award‑winning hospitality apprenticeship providers.
