Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Maintenance Manager will be based in Flint, MI, supporting a smaller, fast-paced plant environment where versatility and ownership are key. This role involves significant time on the production floor, leading maintenance efforts and performing technician-level work.

Responsibilities

  • Determine critical priorities with operations and ensure the Maintenance group meets these priorities.
  • Evaluate system inadequacies and present modifications to management for approval and support in implementing changes.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities related to the maintenance department, the plant, and its processes.
  • Lead the Maintenance group in defining and executing the Plant and Maintenance Department's vision, objectives, strategies, and metrics.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for maintenance issues, addressing them in real-time.
  • Supervise a maintenance technician team, preparing evaluations and managing the call-in schedule.
  • Develop and implement predictive and preventative maintenance programs to support asset availability.
  • Maintain spare parts/supplies inventory and budget, as well as equipment history files.
  • Train and develop the maintenance group, serving as a technical resource to the plant leadership team.
  • Promote plant safety and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in plant maintenance or engineering, with a proven track record in managing maintenance operations and reliability teams.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Familiarity with extrusion technology or blown film equipment is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and manage maintenance and reliability teams effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with troubleshooting various issues and programming PLCs and Drives (Allen Bradley, ABB, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with metric-driven reliability is preferred.
  • A positive, results-oriented attitude with a focus on achieving operational goals and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Base Range: $80k - $90k + Bonus + Benefits
