Act as a staff specialist with technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering.
Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.
- Assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable.
- Participate in establishing design plans, prepare engineering development proposals and feasibility studies, and contribute to setting technical objectives.
- Contribute significantly to the solution of applied problems.
- Coordinate efforts at all levels with other units of the company, including engineering, manufacturing, and marketing.
- Direct all reliability and maintenance activities to ensure maximum operational potential for the entire plant operation, including:
- Maintenance Business Management
- Maintenance Materials Inventory (MRO)
- Maintenance Recruit to Retire
- Manufacturing Process Reliability and Equipment Reliability
- Departmental budgets and computerized maintenance management systems
- Preventive/predictive and corrective maintenance programs
- Assure the safe execution of all maintenance and utility activities, demanding compliance with all safety procedures.
- Champion safety as the first consideration for all employees/contractors and promote a safe work environment.
- Maintain facility and assets to meet regulatory guidelines (e.g., USDA, FDA, OSHA, EPA).
- Optimize costs through effective budget planning and management, minimizing loss and waste.
- Optimize the availability and safe operation of production assets through predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance.
- Coordinate major maintenance and project requirements with manufacturing, production, and engineering, including major downtime activities and capital budget development.
- Train maintenance staff on effective maintenance practices, including:
- Computerized maintenance management systems
- Problem-solving tools
- Risk and failure analysis
- Maintenance scheduling and data analysis
- Equipment histories
- Set and evaluate departmental goals and objectives collaboratively with maintenance supervision, factory leadership, and regional reliability managers.
- Conduct special studies to improve departmental services, equipment reliability, and factory operations.
- Provide direction for the operation and maintenance of utilities (e.g., air, steam, water, nitrogen, ammonia) and wastewater facilities.
- Share best maintenance practices with other Kraft Heinz professionals through semi-annual forums and regular communication.
- Ensure parts availability in the MRO stockroom to minimize equipment downtime while balancing inventory costs.
- Assist with evaluating reliability, utility, facility, production, and packaging needs for capital equipment.
- Oversee and lead the implementation of the Quality Risk Management Process (QRMP) system and operational standards.
- Partner with business leaders on equipment and manufacturing reliability, process improvements (Six Sigma/Lean), and change initiatives.
- Manage and evaluate maintenance staff, including performance management, employee improvement, and development plans.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager to support the facility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred; focus in Engineering or related technical field highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ leadership experience within a manufacturing environment required.
- 5+ years of maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment required.
- Extensive knowledge in the following areas:
- Packaging/Mechanical Operations
- Electrical maintenance
- Instrumentation
- Electronics/Controls
- Utility Systems
- Boiler and ammonia refrigeration
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to motivate, empower, train, direct, lead, evaluate, and coach a diverse team.
- Ability to effectively plan and manage change within large enterprise organizations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS required.
- Ability to manage a continuous operation (24 hours, 7 days per week).

Pay
- New Hire Base Salary Range: Competitive, taking into account internal equity and varying by geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
