About the role
The Maintenance Manager ensures that facilities, layout, and machinery used for production operate at maximum efficiency and output to improve business performance. This role involves preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment (including software programming), people management, and budgetary and cost reporting.
Responsibilities
- Schedules, trains, supervises, and motivates employees for the maintenance department.
- Ensures efficient repair schedules and reviews repair cost estimates.
- Implements safety policies and procedures for the department.
- Plans and oversees all repair and installation activities.
- Sets department objectives/KPIs and reviews and assesses ongoing performance of direct reports.
- Conducts risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses a wide variety of machine malfunctions.
- Stays current on changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advises others of any impact, including recognizing the need for critical spares.
- Coordinates maintenance work performed by outside vendors.
- Prioritizes the maintenance and repairs of company equipment and parts in alignment with business needs.
- Identifies and deploys technical skill sets, resource levels, and systems to deliver projects, including engaging external resources as required.
- Liaises and communicates with other departments, customers, suppliers, and other service providers.
- Consistently promotes high standards through personal example and ensures team members understand expected standards and behaviors.
- Ensures 5S practices are implemented and adhered to.
- Adheres to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18801 certification requirements.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Understanding and experience with Lean Manufacturing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and schematics.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering strongly preferred.
- Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) a plus.
- 5 to 7 years of manufacturing, engineering, or related experience preferred.
- 3 years' experience managing a cross-functional team.
- Previous experience in implementing and maintaining a successful preventive maintenance program.
Working Conditions
- Typical office/factory environment with possible exposure to extreme temperatures in production areas.
- Exposure to general production machine noise levels.
- Exposure to hazards such as electrical and moving mechanical parts.
- Exposure to fumes.
- Requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, pushing, grasping, feeling, and hearing.
- Occasional overhead lifting of up to 40 pounds (e.g., cardboard boxes, trash bags, odd-shaped items).
- Lifting 50 pounds and moving odd-shaped objects (e.g., desks, tables).
- Average work-exertion up to 60 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible force constantly.
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more, with the ability to judge depth and space relationships and bring objects into sharp focus.
Pay
Salary Range: $95,000 - $130,000 + 25% Bonus Potential
