Maintenance Manager

About the Role

This position oversees maintenance operations, regulatory compliance, and safety initiatives within the manufacturing plant. The role involves direct supervision of Maintenance Technicians and collaboration with emergency responders, while driving continuous improvement in machine efficiency, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and orders annual inspections as required by governmental regulatory agencies.
  • Manages and controls the use, storage, and timely disposal of hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Maintains and tests fire suppression sprinkler systems in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Serves as plant liaison with the Fire Department and other emergency responders.
  • Ensures periodic testing and maintenance of emergency lighting and related systems.
  • Conducts inspections and testing of all fire extinguishers and facility crane hoists.
  • Ensures employees follow plant quality practices, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Monitors manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with production and quality standards.
  • Makes recommendations and develops solutions to improve machine efficiencies and quality.
  • Develops and administers a departmental 5S program aligned with plant-wide initiatives.
  • Monitors and maintains scheduled productivity, leading the team to achieve planned schedule attainment goals.
  • Ensures machinery and equipment repairs are performed promptly, correctly, and within established timeframes.
  • Coordinates troubleshooting efforts to maximize machine efficiency.
  • Drives continuous improvement processes to enhance departmental performance.
  • Prioritizes and follows up on all maintenance activities while managing labor costs through employee productivity.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors a preventive maintenance (PM) program across the manufacturing plant.
  • Directly supervises Maintenance Technicians, including planning, assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing employee concerns.
  • Defines, develops, and controls maintenance-related procedures, specifications, and documentation.
  • Prepares and submits purchase requests for necessary materials.
  • Monitors and analyzes utility usage and develops energy savings programs.
  • Oversees the administration of the work order database, machine histories, and logs; maintains current machine manuals.
  • Develops and maintains departmental budgets; controls operating expenses and plant supply costs.
  • Compiles, prepares, and submits performance reports as directed.
  • Supports the Plant’s Food Safety initiatives, including required training and compliance with SQF standards.
  • Assists SQF teams with audits and documentation as necessary.
  • Fulfills the roles and responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager in their absence, as designated by the Plant Manager.

Safety

  • Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Reports safety issues, workplace injuries, or incidents immediately to supervisors.
  • Actively participates in safety improvement processes, such as hazard identification and safety teams.
