Maintenance Manager

About the Role

The Maintenance Manager ensures the safe maintenance, repair, and replacement of plant equipment and systems (Mechanical, HVAC, Grounds, Building Structure, etc.). This role focuses on planning, scheduling, and providing technical solutions to maximize production quantity and quality while supporting company policies, goals, and objectives.

Responsibilities

• Report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
• Enforce company guiding principles and culture statement.
• Initiate, implement, and manage the maintenance program based on best practices in the food industry, emphasizing planning, scheduling, preventive, and predictive maintenance.
• Oversee purchasing and inventory functions to ensure correct parts are readily available and costs are charged to the correct general ledger.
• Prepare reports and analyze data to recommend improvements for plant operations and maintenance-related problems.
• Ensure maintenance staff are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated to accomplish the maintenance program safely, timely, and cost-effectively.
• Conduct employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution.
• Develop and train staff on department policies and procedures, ensuring adherence at all times.
• Maintain department files and manuals, ensuring they are orderly and accessible.
• Train department staff on the most updated versions of company policies and procedures.
• Monitor plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, solve problems proactively, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Initiate and carry out projects to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Track and analyze department key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment uptime, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, employee labor hours, parts availability, and stock levels.
• Ensure compliance with city, county, state, and federal regulations related to the maintenance department.
• Direct, maintain, and enforce the safety program for the maintenance department.
• Prioritize effective communication between maintenance and operations.
• Interview, hire, and train maintenance employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; and address complaints and resolve problems.
• Ensure the department is staffed to meet internal requirements.
• Establish and maintain a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history.
• Develop and execute an effective preventative maintenance program.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and train mechanics on task execution.
• Oversee facility security related to fire and burglar alarm systems.
