Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Maintenance Manager oversees all installation, repair, and upkeep operations within the facility. This includes supervising the Maintenance team to ensure all plant maintenance processes and operational goals are met or exceeded.

Responsibilities

  • Develop methods and strategies to improve uptime and efficiency.
  • Create and implement maintenance procedures and manage all repair and installation activities.
  • Maintain, manage, and prioritize daily work orders through the CMMS system, including labor, parts, and work hours.
  • Maintain machinery and plan repair activities to ensure working standards are met.
  • Supervise and lead plant maintenance processes and operations.
  • Track expenses and oversee the maintenance budget.
  • Develop strong business relationships with suppliers and internal/external partners.
  • Ensure designated buildings, plants, and facilities are fit for purpose and provide proactive support/solutions when needed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve issues.
  • Provide frequent on-site monitoring, auditing, and enforcement of maintenance execution and safe work practices.
  • Ensure all department employees adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Institute and conduct training drills across the plant.
  • Manage the performance of and provide coaching, feedback, and development plans to the Maintenance team to meet or exceed individual, departmental, and company goals.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of technical skills such as welding, fabrication, mill or lathe work, electrical skills, plumbing skills, and comprehension of diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of production support systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with colleagues, business partners, plant personnel, and others.
  • Strong leadership abilities, capable of mentoring and gaining trust at all levels and managing, directing, coaching, developing, and engaging a team.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions, with a focus on continuous improvement and results-driven outcomes.
  • Understanding and effective use of computerized business systems and other technologies.

Qualifications

  • Some college or technical schooling or equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years of maintenance management experience in a plant environment, particularly in metals, steel, or other related heavy industries.
  • Experience providing technical guidance and developing maintenance workforces.
  • Experience with PLCs, motor controls, sensors, limit switches, and electro/mechanical systems, as well as 3-phase 480v equipment.
  • Experience in preventative maintenance and lean manufacturing.

Pay

$125,000 - $145,000 per year
