Responsibilities

• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines
• Establish, communicate, and assign job responsibilities, goals, and performance standards for the Maintenance Department
• Collaborate with other department management on maintenance projects and priorities
• Review, plan, schedule, and supervise all maintenance repairs and preventive maintenance activities
• Develop and execute major shutdown schedules, real-time updates, and post-shutdown critiques
• Oversee all aspects of the maintenance department, including performance evaluations and recommendations for merit increases and promotions
• Coordinate and supervise contractor work for specified repairs
• Meet with vendors regarding new maintenance equipment and supplies
• Support and actively participate in plant safety and environmental programs
• Coordinate with plant management on priorities and schedules for plant projects
• Work with Planner to review, plan, schedule, and supervise maintenance activities
• Investigate and resolve unusual problems or difficulties in maintenance projects
• Specify engineering data and solicit competitive pricing for major equipment and parts
• Coordinate with storeroom personnel on supplies and parts needed for maintenance activities
• Compile records and data regarding maintenance projects and prepare reports for management
• Ensure compliance with plant and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) safety rules and regulations
• Assist in developing the annual budget and implementing the approved budget
• Ensure proper training for new and existing department employees
• Conduct meetings for supervisors and department heads to set maintenance priorities and address environmental issues
• Collaborate with Plant Manager on goals, strategic planning, and directives
• Perform daily plant inspections and discuss maintenance requirements with supervisors
• Conduct monthly safety meetings and train employees on safety regulations and standards
• Evaluate safety hazards proactively and investigate accidents
• Participate in labor contract negotiations and resolve potential grievances with union representatives
• Review maintenance reports to analyze trends
• Assist Plant Manager in preparing annual budgets for company executives
• Recommend improvements to enhance plant operations
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• 4-year/Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a cement manufacturing facility with management responsibilities
• Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, and signs
• Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills
• Ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment
• Ability to perform, organize, and prioritize work under general supervision
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Leadership and management abilities
• Knowledge of all equipment and machinery used in the plant and their functions
• Knowledge of maintenance techniques and repair procedures for general industrial equipment and cement-specific equipment (e.g., kilns, ball mills, roller mills, air separators, Fuller-Kinyon pumps)
• Knowledge of MSHA safety regulations and EPA environmental regulations
• Knowledge of welding operations, design, drafting, and construction techniques for various building types
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Physical ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, enter confined areas, and work in extreme temperatures and dusty environments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Avantis (CMMS) software
• Uses independent judgment in decision-making and analyzing unusual maintenance problems
• Active participant and leader in the Maintenance Excellence Process

Pay

$125,100 - $152,900 per year, eligible for yearly bonus and geographic differential.
