About the role
The Maintenance Technician – Injection Molding is responsible for preventative maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairs on various types of injection molding machines, demolding robotic systems, and auxiliary molding support equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any unsafe working conditions
- Read, use, and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools
- Perform all required necessary preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment
- Check and maintain quality of product being produced by identifying acceptable and non-acceptable product in accordance with Quality policies and procedures
- Actively participate on teams and offer suggestions for improvement
- Answer machine alarms as they occur and identify and address the root cause
- Follow all 5S guidelines
- Perform and document inspections per cGMP for work instruction sheet, on device history sheet records, and work instruction sheet tables
- Follow all Lock Out/Tag Out rules
- Diagnose and troubleshoot any pneumatic, mechanical, or electrical malfunction on a variety of machines
- Repair and maintain electrical controls on equipment, including servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines and devices
- Auxiliary tasks include assisting with uploading programs to controls in the events of program loss or CPU replacement, repairing robot arms and controls, including replacing bad boards, motors, encoders, etc., calibrating and adjusting robot pick and place locations if needed, conducting TPM activities as required, inputting Maintenance work orders into the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (SAP), monitoring processes, showing an awareness of issues and demonstrating corrective actions to address those issues, performing weekly, monthly, and as required preventive maintenance (PM), performing root cause analysis for safety, quality, and processing issues, suggesting ways to improve the efficiency and safety of our work and environment
- Comply with all company policies
- Must be able to fluently operate presses, robots, and auxiliary equipment to diagnose malfunctions, and to verify repairs
- Troubleshoots and locates the source of the problem by observing the operation of the equipment
- Brainstorms with other maintenance personnel, and outside technical support as needed
- Restores damaged or malfunctioning equipment to operation by repairing, replacing and or adjusting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Controls down time by scheduling repairs with the Maintenance Leader
- Maintains good communications with Maintenance Leader
- Maintains ongoing list of CMMS work orders with timeline to be addressed and completed
- Assists other maintenance personnel as needed
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
- Ensures the work is completed with technical excellence, and in an efficient and cost-effective fashion
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must have 3 or more years of experience in a technical, hands-on position
- Experience with injection molding machine maintenance required
- Experience in electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics
- Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Ability to regularly lift up to 40lbs with repetitive movements
- Ability to push and pull items and climb up and down ladders
- Ability to stand and/or walk up to constantly during the shift
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications required and SAP experience preferred
- Ability to work independently from verbal and/or written instructions required
- Experience with Scientific Injection Molding concepts
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Must be mechanically inclined and can use basic hand tools
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
