About the role

This individual will train in the maintenance and repair of a variety of plant equipment, including installing equipment, repairing and replacing machine components, and troubleshooting electrical systems. The role involves completing prescribed classes per HI-LEX Controls (JAMA) to achieve Journeyman status within a determined timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on all manufacturing and plant equipment.
  • Work with related equipment including hand tools, measuring tools, power tools, meters, saws, welding, and cutting equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems with supervision.
  • Dismantle machines and equipment, replace defective parts, adjust feed mechanisms, and adjust sensors with supervision.
  • Install electrical raceways and bend & fit conduit with supervision.
  • Work on special projects that align with class studies and promote learning.
  • Perform any other job duties as required.
  • Use basic electrical skills with supervision.
  • Assemble fixturing and machine assemblies from basic prints and drawings.
  • Perform welding and cutting of fixtures and assemblies as required.
  • Work closely with maintenance shift lead for training.
  • Follow safety rules and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • 3 years of related on-the-job experience.
  • Experience working on mechanical equipment.
  • Basic electrical skills.
  • Experience working with power tools.

Physical Requirements

  • Works in a factory environment with noise from the manufacturing setting.
  • Exposure to moving equipment and electrical shock.
  • Possible injury due to carelessness around equipment.
  • Sometimes lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Sometimes works at heights of up to 40 feet.
