Key Responsibilities and Accountability
- Design, specify, validate, modify, monitor, and troubleshoot electronic control systems including PLC logic, HMIs, electrical drives, relay logic, motor controls, and instrumentation systems.
- Configure and support Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLC and HMI control systems.
- Install and program variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and control drawings.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment using electrical diagnostic tools and calibrated test equipment.
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and process improvements.
- Design and develop basic electrical circuits.
- Design and build electrical enclosures in accordance with NEC codes and standards.
- Perform vision system calibrations and basic network setup.
- Report to Maintenance Supervisor Daily Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair production equipment throughout the facility.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits.
- Troubleshoot and repair packaging equipment including PPI, PMI, Tex wrap, and Multivac systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair high-speed slicers.
- Troubleshoot printers, date coders, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Calibrate scales and other process equipment.
- Inspect and repair lighting and electrical connections throughout the facility.
- Respond to breakdown calls and provide support to production departments.
- Document work orders, repairs, and parts usage in SAP.
- Participate in shift handoff meetings and communicate daily issues to incoming and outgoing technicians.
- Order parts and materials needed for projects and repairs.
- Ownership
- Electrical safety and maintenance throughout the facility.
- Lighting systems throughout the facility.
- Organization, cleanliness, and inventory of the electrical storage area.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Average: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in electrical/automation engineering, or related field preferred.
- Preferred: Certification in instrumentation and automation controls.
- Minimum: Two years of electrical and/or mechanical maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong planning and prioritization skills.
- Safety-minded with attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Ability to use electrical diagnostic equipment, digital multimeters, and calibration software.
- Ability to train and mentor team members.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as business needs require.
- Physical Demands: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. Work in both office and plant environment. Exposure to humidity, cold temperatures, moving mechanical parts, and moderate to high noise levels.
