Purpose Statement/Position Summary
The Maintenance Helper I assist in ensuring the smooth operation of hospital facilities by supporting skilled craftsmen in various maintenance tasks. With a focus on preventive maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs, this role contributes to the overall functionality, safety, and aesthetics of the hospital environment. Performs preventive, corrective maintenance, and project-related duties of a recognized skilled craft or trade while assisting a journey-level carpenter, electrician, plumber, HVAC, or maintenance mechanic. Typically specializes in one or more of the construction craft trades such as Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, or Refrigeration, and works at a skill level equivalent to that of an advanced apprentice. Performs routine Preventive Maintenance which does not require the skills of a journey-level craft technician on various pieces of hospital equipment and systems. May be expected to drive CHLA vehicle during worked hours.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience
- 0-1 Year of experience in residential or industrial maintenance experience.
- Valid California Drivers License required.
- Adherence to CHLA Operation of Vehicles for Business Purposes Policy.
Education/Licensure/Certification
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
