Maintenance Generalist Day Shift Waverly NE

Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson Foods will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.

Pay

$22.35 - $31.95 per hour (based on experience) + $2 attendance bonus + $3 shift differential for B shift.

Schedule

Rotating 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule:

• 1st Shift: 5:30 am – 5:30 pm or upon completion of assigned work
• B Shift: 5:30 pm – 5:30 am or upon completion of assigned work

About the role

This position is responsible for performing troubleshooting, repairs, and providing technical support for all phases of operations, including preventative maintenance functions.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment and machines for optimal performance throughout the production day
• Adjust production machines and related equipment, according to maintenance schedule, manufacturer's service manuals, and production tolerances
• Inspect machines and troubleshoot to detect potential malfunctions
• Replace repaired parts or install new parts to restore machine to operating condition
• Lubricate grease fittings and moving parts of machine and perform other preventive maintenance as directed by supervisors
• Complete Preventive Maintenance and work orders in a timely manner
• Work within safety guidelines at all times
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Certification in any technical field or techniques is a plus
• Thorough knowledge of troubleshooting techniques
• Ability to work independently
• Attention to detail and ability to solve practical problems
• Good safety and attendance record along with strong interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated skills in AC/DC circuits and industrial electrical systems
• Experience in electrical safety and lock out/tag out processes and procedures
• Knowledge in the theory and application of electronic devices such as industrial semiconductors, solid-state drives, and industrial control systems
• Experience in the operation of PLC systems and control/data collection instrumentation and transducers
• Working knowledge and skills in tools and components used in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems such as bearings, gears, clutches, belts, and seals
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems
• Ability to repair pumps and fluid control systems

Preferred Skills

• Basic microcomputer skills necessary to understand the operation and interfacing characteristics of microprocessors
• Experience in PLC operation, including basic system configuration, hardware, relay equivalent instructions, timers, counters, data manipulation, data communications, advanced programming commands, interfacing, troubleshooting, and program development
• Demonstrated skills or training in electronic motor drive technologies, including servo-motors, encoders, tachometers, electronic and mechanical brakes and clutches, closed-loop systems, DC servo, AC variable frequency, AC servo, and stepper systems
• Ability to use test equipment including but not limited to multimeter, megger, vibration analysis, infrared scanners, and sonic testers

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Mechanics/Automotive or Electrical Technology preferred
• 1-2 years’ experience in Facility Maintenance and/or Automotive Mechanic
• Some training in electrical principles and troubleshooting preferred
• Must be able to communicate effectively
• Computer skills, including general knowledge of Microsoft Office or related training

Physical Requirements

• Stand/Walk: Continuously (at least 8 hours a day)
• Lift/Carry: Frequently (1-10 lbs.), occasionally (up to 35-50 lbs.)
• Grasp: Frequently (3-4 hours a day)
• Occasionally (1-3 hours a day): bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder, crouch, kneel, push/pull
• Continuously working around moving machinery, both inside and outside with changes in temperature and humidity
• Exposure to dust and fumes
• Occasionally working on a ladder at unprotected heights
• Exposure to dead birds and strong chicken odor
