Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks to maintain a sanitary, comfortable, and secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
• Maintain, repair, and install building components such as windows, doors, floors, walls, and ceilings.
• Operate and perform routine maintenance on VHS vehicles, including driving for ADC as needed.
• Collect and dispose of all rubbish.
• Paint interior and exterior walls and perform grounds-keeping tasks like mowing, raking, cutting, fertilizing, re-seeding, planting, caring for trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns.
• Remove snow and ice from parking lots, walkways, driveways, entrances, and steps.
• Assist in construction and repair for all building and grounds-related equipment.
• Work weekends and "on-call" hours.
• Answer maintenance calls, clean area and tools upon job completion, complete job sheets and check sheets, return to DES or Maintenance Supervisor daily, and complete any job tasks assigned.
• Attend all required in-services and follow department and facility policies, including use of personal protective equipment.
• Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care and employee information and follow HIPAA and HIV regulations.

Requirements

• High School or GED, preferred.
• Must possess a good general knowledge of building and trades but need not be a journeyman.
• Must possess a valid NYS Class D driver's license and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organization's vehicles.

Physical Requirements

• Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
• Occasional balancing.
• Frequent climbing, crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception).
• Constant hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, walking, fit testing.

Hazards

• Occasional bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure, burns, chemical, electrical, explosives, mechanical, radiation/radiant energy.

Pay Range

USD $18.02/Hr. to USD $29.08/Hr.
