Maintenance Excellence Manager
Key Responsibility
Team Leadership - Lead and manage the maintenance department, ensuring all equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
Preventative Maintenance - Develop, implement, and continuously refine a predictive and preventative maintenance strategy to maximize uptime and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Budget/KPI Management - Manage departmental budgets, review maintenance expenditures, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure alignment with operational goals.
TPM Implementation - Design, implement, and sustain a Total Predictive Maintenance (TPM) program, including development of supporting systems and critical spare parts control.
CMMS Expertise - Serve as the subject matter expert for the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), driving work order efficiency, inventory management, and analytics.
Root Cause Analysis - Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and increase reliability.
Safety Compliance - Ensure full compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, machine guarding, and environmental standards.
PSM Development/Alignment - Ensure maintenance programs and practices are aligned with Process Safety Management (PSM) principles; participate in PSM audits and support implementation of corrective actions to mitigate operational risk.
Staff Development - Recruit, train, coach, and develop a high-performing maintenance team while promoting a culture of accountability, growth, and collaboration.
Cross Functional Collaboration - Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Training, Engineering, and Operations to align training programs, improvement initiatives, and performance management.
Continuous Improvement - Lead or participate in Kaizen, Rapid Improvement, and PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycles to drive plant-wide process improvements and best practice sharing.
Vendor Management - Coordinate external contractors and vendors, including negotiating and managing service contracts and capital equipment projects.
Performance Reporting - Track and document maintenance activities, repair histories, and reliability metrics, and report progress regularly to senior plant leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Engineering technology diploma, skilled trades license, or equivalent supervisory/management experience considered
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- At least 5 years of leadership experience, preferably in batch or discrete manufacturing
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with SAP, eMaintenance, and AutoCAD a plus
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and technical capabilities
- Basic project management skills
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, TPM, reliability-centered maintenance, or similar methodologies
